About me

Sushila Acharya ( founder )

I am Sushila Acharya, born and raised in a small village of far western part of Nepal named Jumla district which is also a very remote area and origin of the Nepali language. Talking about my academic credentials, I passed my school education from a remote government school. Thereafter, I wanted to move out from village for my high school. I loved to make new friends, visit new places and social work. But in Nepali society the daughters were not allowed to go out and work so, all the time I was thinking about Nepali society how to make changes. Then my parents allowed me to study and work away from home town. Back in 2007, I came to Pokhara. As a student, I didn’t have enough money for study and accommodation then I started leading Himalaya’s treks in Nepal since 2007. I am one of a few female mountain guides helping for guiding tourist through the mountains of Nepal. That trekking passion made me able to earn money for my higher education and completed my bachelor degree successfully. I did rock and ice climbing training in 2008.  I love earning enough experiences in trekking field and then I started my own trekking company in the year 2015. Finally, I started ‘Women Empowerment Trek Pvt. Ltd’ with a motive of empowering women in trek. I love my job since I like adventure, exploring new place and meet new people, exchanging our culture, religion. Besides, I would like to support those women who are interested to earn money for higher education by doing trekking. That’s why I founded ‘Women Empowerment Trek (WET)’, which is located in Lakeside, Pokhara from where you can explore the unexplored Himalayas of Nepal.
